Coaching doesn’t always flow neatly. Sometimes the session gets stuck. Sometimes it ends without a clear next step. Sometimes we leave thinking, “What just happened?”
In supervision, we normalise the mess. We see it not as a problem to be fixed, but as something rich to explore.
When I began coaching, I was constantly searching for the “right” move. If things didn’t go smoothly, I assumed I’d missed something. But over time, and with the help of supervision, I’ve come to value those complex, messy moments.
They often signal something important. A deeper truth. A tension that needs naming. Or a shift that’s just beginning.
Supervision has helped me become more comfortable with the unknown. To stay with the discomfort a little longer. To trust that not every session needs a bow tied on the end.

Practical Tip: After a messy session, try journaling: What felt unclear? What might have been unfolding below the surface? Bring this to your next supervision session.
I offer individual and group supervision for coaches who want to explore the full spectrum of what coaching can be.
